Surf Youth is a group of students who come together to grow by knowing and caring about our selves, our neighbors, and God.  We know you don't have it all together yet, and that's alright.  We're all working through what it means to be a healthy human being.  It is within community, by building healthy relationships, we can begin to see the full spectrum of what life is truly meant to be.  Life means being challenged but also having fun.  We get hurt, but we can move beyond our pains by relying on each other, sharing with those we trust, and giving those hurts  to God.  Here at Surf, we are working things out together among fellows students and leaders who want to listen and become part of each others lives.  By being close, and valuing relationships, we begin to understand what Jesus meant when he talked so frequently about the coming of the Kingdom of God.

When Jesus, the son of God, left his heavenly throne and became a man, he showed us how much he loves us, and how much he wishes to be in relationship with every person on the earth:

"And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth."

We can follow his example as we become closer disciples of Jesus, and as love wells up within us, we can let it overflow into the lives of those we care about - but even more powerfully into the lives of all we come in contact with - our neighbors.

We do this by studying God's word in the Bible, through a relationship with God in a life of constant prayer, and in action by serving our neighbors without regard to their status in human standards.  God loves us all, and he asks us to devote ourselves to his people - all of them - as much as we are able to give.

This is the type of life that Surf Youth wishes for.  Whole, integrated lives, living in community, and devoted to the love of God and neighbor.  In the process, we'll cause ripples in the world as representatives of God's love.
